The leitmotifs of traditional cultures are an inexhaustible source of universal meanings that we encounter in our everyday lives. The magical beliefs of the residents of Bali form the basis of a concept developed by the creative agency Koshta specifically for the broadcast of the Bali Dota 2 tournament.
In ancient times, the Balinese believed that evil spirits, ogoh-ogoh, could be imprisoned in a magical doll. And every year, according to traditions, they created huge idols, which were then burned during the Nyepi festival. In this way, people fought against ancient evil, turning protection into an art form.
The tournament's graphic design, created by the Toogle team, and the studio design for the broadcast, created by our team, are based on the aesthetics of Balinese ritual culture and architecture. In our work, we uphold the beliefs of the Balinese: the studio interior literally becomes a place of symbolic sacrifice, awaiting a colossal effigy.
