KOSHTA WEEKEND 2022
GESAMT IS A LABOUR EXTENDED IN TIME
performance realized in POLE CULTURAL SPACE
during KOSHTA WEEKEND 2022

what is labour? and is it visible enough?
as production designers, we have faced common misunderstandings about how things come together into an object/set-up/installation or other. the READY thing has an impression that covers the history of becoming THAT thing

that’s how the idea of our performance was formed - to show a temporal and physical extension of our own labour

one month of preparations for the show has been registered in a timeline, a to-do-list of the project which included every step of its creation - from theoretical to material production. this list aimed to show the ‘invisible’ part of our work as well as the visible final result

the performance took place on August 27, during which we mounted our installation in front of an audience. the installation consisted of 6 canvases made in different techniques

each canvas represented a part of the phrase GESAMT IS A LABOUR EXTENDED IN TIME, where each object made sense only in conjunction with the other. and here is another dimension of our work - a COLLABORATION, collective labour, a state where every member of the group is integral

the soundscape was as important as the action: the installation space was surrounded by a 4-channel audio that recreated the sounds of our workshop

“watching this process was like working along side you, guys” - said one of our spectators. and it was such valuable feedback. thank you for your gaze
